The North Shore offers excellent education options from pre-school to tertiary. There is a public system for pre-school education plus numerous private pre-school facilities. It has 42 state primary schools, eight intermediate schools, eight secondary schools, eight integrated schools and five private schools.

Just under 85% have a government decile rating of 9 or 10 – 10 being the highest rating possible. North Shore has the highest proportion of high decile rating schools in New Zealand.
